What’s with All the Emails from Google?!

Understanding Google's Many Website Management Tools

Google Business Profile

You probably view Google Business Profile information far more than you realize – but probably for other businesses, not your own. Being the manager of a Google Business Profile allows you to provide Google the details you want people to see about your business, as opposed to whatever Google can scrape off the internet. The main place this information show up is in Google Maps, either when someone searches for your business by name, or when they look for businesses in your category or nearby area. They also show up at the top of the search results pages when someone searches for the name of your business in the Google search engine.

A properly set up profile is an important early step in getting the right details to your customers and potential customers. We can help to make sure your profile is set up correctly, all the details are correct on the profile, and even help you manage the various notices and reminders you get from the management interface.

Google Analytics

Where do visitors come from? What pages do they visit? How long do they browse the site? Do they make a purchase or complete a contact form before leaving?

Those answers can be found using Google Analytics, which is Google’s tool to help you track internal statistics about your website.

They key to Analytics is that it must be both installed on your website (something we generally do automatically) and then the data collection must be set according to your preferences on the Analytics website (something we only do when the client requests it).

If you’d like help setting this up and/or keeping tabs on the data it reports, we’re happy to help.

Google Search Console

Where did my traffic come from? What did they search for? How many other results are there for that same set of keywords? How many people who saw a link to your site clicked on it?

Search Console is where you can see data about what type of traffic the Google search engine sent to your site. Where is the searcher from? What did they search for?

This is a great way to see how your site is performing in search and decide whether you might want to engage the services of an SEO (search engine optimization) specialist.

Google Ads

As Google search algorithm has gotten better and better, it’s gotten harder and harder to do things that artificially bolster your results. This is generally a good development, but what do you do if your website needs a temporary leg up? Google’s solution is to pay to have your site shown in the “Sponsored” results.

This can be a great tool, but it can also be a costly money pit. We can help you evaluate if these ads are right for you and connect you with a specialist to help your target your campaigns for maximum results.
